Here’s Your First Official Look at Team USA’s Basketball Uniforms for the 2016 Summer Olympics
Before Nike takes over for adidas as the official provider of NBA uniforms at the end of next season, the brand debuted the next evolution of threads to be worn by Team USA when they take the court in Rio this summer for the 2016 Summer Olympics.
Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant was in the house in New York City to model the new uniforms, which feature a white “Home” iteration, a blue “Away” version and a red “Alternate.” Durant also appeared rocking a pair of his brand new, just announced Nike KD 9s in a white-and-red colorway—presumably the shoe he’ll debut on-court in Rio this August.
The backs of the jerseys appear to have multiple air slits in a “V” pattern for breathability, while the numbers almost glow with a metallic shine in both blue (on the “Home” uniform) and silver (on the “Away” and “Alternate” versions). But probably the coolest detail of the uniforms is the American Eagle symbol just above the drawstring on the waist of the shorts, a dope patriotic touch.
Tune in to the Summer Olympics in Rio starting Aug. 5 to see these new uniforms in action.
