Weighing in at only 5.8 ounces, the new F50 adiZero is the lightest boot ever created by adidas. And after the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, it’s now considered the deadliest boot on the planet, having accounted for 41 goals during the tournament.
The redesign of the boot, based on sprinter spikes, places only a single layer of non-woven synthetic material to separate the foot from the ball, allowing for better control and feel for the ball upon receiving it.
The adidas experts did not overlook the fact that total traction is a must for every player on the pitch, and they created a unique stud pattern for maximum acceleration—and for quick precision turns and cuts.
“Any athlete who is successful has to have a strong foundation, and soccer boots are no different. You can wear [the adidas F50 adiZero] in any type of weather, and it helps you that much more to get that extra step cutting quickly,” says U.S. striker Jozy Altidore. “I must say I am really impressed with the improvements, and have already seen [benefits in my game].”
Two other elements of the new F50 boot are the TPU Support Bands laced along the inside sides of the boot for total support of the foot, and the Sprint Frame, which reinforces the boot’s construction and provides increased stability for the sole of the foot. And the chameleon style of the boot [it changes colors when looked at from different angles] is pretty sick and definitely gets some style points.
To sum up the new adidas F50 adiZero, Jozy only needs one word: “incredible.” He sayss, “Adidas did a great job in creating such a lightweight boot, and for me, the lighter the better.”
