adidas Clima Cool Ride Running Shoe Preview
It’s almost time for runners in northern climes to put away their winter gear and head outside for some serious spring training. But before you lace up last year’s kicks, check out the new lightweight adidas Clima Cool Ride running shoes.
“We are going to give the runner the ride that he or she is looking for,” states adidas running category manager Jim Jennings. “But on top of that, this product brings 360 degrees of ventilation.”
The 8.9-ounce shoe—7.5 ounces for the women’s model—is designed to keep feet from overheating and to prevent irritating blisters from forming. The Clima Cool Ride’s minimalistic upper allows airflow from all angles, and a perforated sock liner increases breathability in the midsole. This helps cool common friction hot spots, where blisters tend to develop.
adidas’ adiPrene+ midsole design helps maintain forefoot propulsion, allowing athletes to run more efficiently. The advance midsole also provides protective cushioning for the sole of the foot.
Watch the video above to see Jennings’ full breakdown of the Clima Cool Ride. Thirty-one different colorways will be available starting in March, priced at $90 at eastbay.com.
