Batman/Superman Film Coming In 2015
At WB’s Comic-Com panel over the weekend, Zack Snyder shocked everyone in attendance with the announcement that Henry Cavill’s next turn as Superman will include a team-up with none other than Batman.
Well, technically, Snyder didn’t announce it himself. He had Harry Lennix (Man of Steel‘s General Swanwick) come to the stage and deliver a line from Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns: “I want you to remember Clark, in all the years to come. In all your most private moments. I want you to remember my hand at your throat. I want you to remember the one man who beat you.”
Shortly thereafter, Snyder released an official statement confirming that he will once again work with David S. Goyer on the script. Production is slated to start next year, and the movie will be released during the summer of 2015, which is already shaping up to be a superhero showdown.
“I’m so excited to begin working again with Henry Cavill in the world we created, and I can’t wait to expand the DC Universe in this next chapter,” said Snyder in the statement. “Let’s face it, it’s beyond mythological to have Superman and our new Batman facing off, since they are the greatest superheroes in the world.”
Not too long ago, Christian Bale confirmed that he has no plans to reprise his role as the Caped Crusader. Who do you see taking the role?
Man of Steel pulled in over $600 million at the box office, so the interest is definitely there. And it seems like a smart business move for WB to push their two most popular superheroes together to make the race against Marvel a true competition ahead of the Justice League film. But, on the other hand, it seems a little early to bring the two together. What do you think?
