Our 2015 list of the best colleges for female athletes is based on NCAA championship appearances, percentage of female students participating in varsity sports and over 200,000 opinions from nearly 75,000 students.

Based on those criteria, it’s easy to understand why the University of Connecticut tops our rankings. The Huskies women’s basketball team has only one loss in its last 80 games and recently won its fifth national championship in seven years. Since 2000, the team has made 13 Final Four appearances and been named Sports Illustrated’s third best team of the decade.
