For Lloyd, they are the new Nike Special Edition Mercurial Superfly “Leave Your Legacy” cleats.
“Carli is already one of the greats of the women’s game, and these boots are our way of celebrating that,” said Andrea Perez, GM of Nike Soccer in North America, in a press release about the new cleats.
The cleats celebrate Lloyd’s amazing career to date and pay tribute to her magical World Cup hat trick. Three gold stars on the back of the cleat and inside the sole represent those three goals. The stars inside the sole also feature the exact match times of Lloyd’s three goals: 2:33, 4:49 and 15:03.
The Mercurial Superfly features Nike Flyknit, a 3-knit weave that provides superior control and agility at top speeds.
