CBS Orders Manhunt Reality Show
CBS has ordered a manhunt-themed reality competition series titled Hunted, based on a popular UK show from Shine TV.
The hourlong series will challenge ordinary people to go on the run and carry out the seemingly impossible task of disappearing in today’s digital world while being pursued by highly skilled of investigators and trackers during a nationwide manhunt. Investigators will use state-of-the-art tracking methods as well as traditional tactics to locate the participants. The trackers will use a diverse range of techniques, from searching homes, to scouring electronic devices and analyzing behavioral patterns to find clues regarding the participants’ whereabouts.
“Hunted is a compelling new alternative series format, which our alternative department had been tracking for awhile, that feels tailor-made for CBS,” said network entertainment president Glenn Geller. “It combines the suspense of a crime drama with the thrill of a competition reality series and some very topical social issues.”
Hunted joins the network’s longtime reality shows Survivor (renewed through its 31st season) and The Amazing Race, which has been picked up through season 27.
