Well, it was nice while it lasted. Warner Bros. has officially denied rumors that Christopher Nolan would help shape the plagued Justice League production, which, at this point, may not appear until well after Avengers 16  hits theaters.

Asked by Entertainment Weekly if there is any truth to the suggestion that Nolan would not only be producing the super-hero film but also bringing back Christian Bale’s interpretation of the Dark Night, Warner Bros. president Jeff Robinov said, “No, no it’s not.”

There’s no way to misunderstand that statement, and Nolan’s reps confirmed the denial by pointing out that the director is currently too busy working on his upcoming movie, Interstellar. So what now? Most bets are on Man of Steel, Zack Snyder and Nolan’s re-imagining of Superman.

“I think you’ll see that, going forward, anything can live in this world,” said Robinov. “[Nolan’s] Batman was deliberately and smartly positioned as a stand-alone. The world they lived in was very isolated, without any knowledge of any other superheroes. What Zack and Chris have done with this film is allow you to really introduce other characters into the same world.”

With several options hanging in the balance, the studio will soon reveal plans for the future of the movie. “We’ll announce something in the next several weeks that will hopefully position the DC characters and the movies we’re going to be making,” said the executive.

Man of Steel will be released on June 14, while Justice League, aiming for 2015, is currently getting a re-write.
