2 Chainz, Wu-Tang Clan Enlisted For Coachella 2013
Coachella 2013’s hip hop lineup is solid. Coachella welcomes 2 Chainz and the Wu-Tang Clan to the stage this year.
2 Chainz is coming off a stellar 2012, which included the release of his Def Jam solo album, Based on a T.R.U. Story and three Grammy nominations. He will take the stage during Coachella’s Saturday shows (April 13 and 20.) Also performing on Saturday will be singer Janelle Monae and rappers Danny Brown, El-P, Pusha T, Theophilus London and Action Bronson.
Wu-Tang Clan will perform during the Sunday shows (April 14 and April 21.) The rap collective will be joined by quite a few indie acts, including Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, Vampire Weekend, Social Distortion and the Lumineers. Also performing on Sunday: La Roux, Dinosaur Jr., Thee Oh Sees, Smith Westerns and the Gas Light Anthem. The Red Hot Chilli Peppers will be headlining.
Stone Roses, an English rock band, is slated to headline Coachella’s Friday shows (April 12 and April 19.) The group reunited a few years back and is reportedly recording new material for what will be their first album since 1994’s Second Coming. Also performing on Friday are Jurassic 5, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Passion Pit, Of Monsters and Men, Aesop Rock and Band of Horses.
Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg’s performance at last year’s Coachella Festival was arguably the most talked about set. The two surprised festival-goers when they welcomed deceased rapper Tupac Shakur to the stage via hologram. (Find out who is causing the latest stir in the rap world.)
