Now Hear This: Daft Punk’s ‘Random Access Memories’
Eight years after its last studio album, Daft Punk is finally releasing another album. The French electronic duo, most noted for classics like “Harder Better Stronger” and “Alive 2007,” will drop Random Access Memories May 17.
For their fourth studio album, Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter have joined forces with Paul Williams and Nile Rodgers. The group has stated the new album will have a Fleetwood Mac-like West Coast feel.
Another artist featured on the new album is Italian singer Giorgio Moroder. Daft Punk has not confirmed the title of the song featuring Moroder, but recent interviews with Guy-Manuel and Bangalter have shed light on the recording process. On the song, various microphones reflecting different periods of Moroder’s life were used to record his vocals.
Other artists appearing on the album include Pharrell, Chilly Gonzales and Nathan East. Daft Punk has chosen to keep much of the project a secret, adding more mystery and drama to the group’s persona. The band has only recently revealed the tracklist and released the single “Get Lucky,” featuring Pharrell Williams.
