Derek Jeter’s Awkward ESPN Appearance Involves Reliving “Shirtless Shortstops” Photo
Former New York Yankees Hall of Fame shortstop Derek Jeter was recently a guest on ESPN’s “KayRod” broadcast, alongside Michael Kay and Alex Rodriguez. And it didn’t take long for things to get super awkward.
During the show, ESPN showed an old photo from a 1997 photoshoot called “Shirtless Shortstops” featuring Jeter and Rodriguez, despite Jeter pleading with them not to show it.

Alex Rodriguez laughed at the photo, but Jeter stayed silent with a not-so-happy look on his face.
Jeter joked.- we think – that it would be his last time visiting the show.
If you’re wondering what the “Shirtless Shortstops” photoshoot was, it was exactly what it sounds like. Five shirtless MLB shortstops — Jeter, Rodriguez, Edgar Renteria, Alex Gonzalez, and Rey Ordóñez — posing in baseball pants and gold chains.
It’s a classic ’90s photo and one that Jeter would probably rather forget. But thanks to ESPN, we’ll all be reminded of it every time we see him on TV. Thanks, ESPN!
Do you think Jeter was serious or joking about never going on the show again?
