Bungie Addresses ‘Destiny’ Rumors; Possible Raid Matchmaking
Rumors usually die down a little following the release of a game, but it’s been the exact opposite for Bungie’s blockbuster game Destiny, which hit shelves early last month. Since gamers have had time to tear through the game and look at its insides, there have been allegations that future DLC content already exists on the disc and was ripped out as a money grab down the road.
Community manager David “DeeJ” Dague addressed the trail of future expansion packs seen in the game’s coding and assured fans that the developer isn’t attempting to make them pay for something that was initially a part of the game. “We noticed that you noticed that we already have plans for upcoming content packs in Destiny,” wrote Dague in a post. “We do! They have activity names (which may or may not change) and we have a really good idea what they’re going to contain. They even have placeholder nodes in the Director, as you’ve already discovered. But neither of the Expansion Packs we’ve announced are finished.”
He slightly alluded to the story changes, which could simply be linked to changes in staff, in the weekly update, writing, “There may come a time when we take a probing look back at the challenges we faced during the development of Destiny, but those won’t be my stories to tell.”
And as for raid matchmaking, he added, “You don’t need to sell us too hard on the value of matchmaking at Bungie. The best I can do to answer your question is let you know that you’ve been heard. We’re having conversations about how matchmaking might support the more challenging activities in Destiny. It’s a start.”
