At Super Bowl XLVII in New Orleans, New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning sat down to discuss his off-season training, how he uses Gatorade to gain an advantage on the field, and his desire to arrive in shape to training camp.
Manning said that mid-February would be the time when he would get back into his lifting and conditioning regimen and start throwing the football again. At this time, he’d also examine his diet to make sure he’s eating right so he can get the most out of his workouts.
Manning described his typical in-season meal as some combination of chicken, pasta, green beans, salad, carrots and fruits so that he can get a mix of the all nutrients (carbs, proteins, etc.) that he needs to play at a peak level.
Having been a Gatorade athlete for eight years, Manning talks about how Gatorade has evolved from just replenishing electrolytes to supplementing his entire workout with an array of products.
Finally, Manning stresses the importance of arriving to training camp in shape so he can start throwing routes to his wide receivers and tight ends and get his younger guys up to speed. Check out the video above, and use the principles Manning discusses in your own 0ff-season training.
