‘Far Cry 4’ Coming in November
Ubisoft has confirmed there will be a Far Cry 4. The news was first reported during the company’s earnings conference call last week, in which CEO Yves Guillemot explained that five games were important to their performance this year: Assassin’s Creed Unity, Far Cry 4, Just Dance, The Crew and Watch Dogs. The title is slated to be released Nov. 18 for PS3, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC.
News of the sequel comes as no surprise considering the success of Far Cry 3 and its spin-off, Blood Dragon. “Following the success of Far Cry 3, we wanted to take the franchise to the next level and create a game that will surprise players and exceed fans’ expectations,” said executive producer Dan Hay in a statement. “Given the unique setting, we feel [the fourth installment] will stand out as a top first-person shooter, and we’re eager to reveal more about the game in the coming months.”
Far Cry 4 takes place in the fictional nation of Kyrat, located in the Himalayan Mountains. Players will attempt to survive the machinations of a tyrannical self-appointed king.
Ubisoft will offer an exclusive look at the game during its E3 showcase in June. The game is currently available for pre-order and retails for $59.99. Pre-ordering will net gamers a free upgrade to the Limited Edition, which includes Hurk’s Redemption, a series of three single-player missions, and the popular Far Cry 3 add-on gun, “The Impaler.”
