Gucci Mane & Young Thug Release Mixtape
Gucci Mane and Young Thug have teamed up for a new mixtape. The DJ Holiday-hosted freebie, Young Thugga Mane La Flare, features both artists on each track, and the lone feature is fellow Atlanta-based performer PeeWee Longway.
Thug is currently riding high with his singles “Stoner” and “Danny Glover.” He was rumored to be signed to Cash Money, but during a recent interview with Noisey, 1017 Bricksquad distributor Ronald “Caveman” Rosario cleared the air. “Thug is signed to 1017, regardless of where he wants to go. So regardless of what people want to say, what they want to tweet or instagram, Gucci is still gonna get paid. Thug is running around saying Rich Gang, but a lot of people don’t understand that Rich Gang is a management company. It’s a management deal. It isn’t a record deal,” explained Rosario.
It seems odd for the two to release a collaborative project when things inside BrickSquad, especially concerning Young Thug, are up in the air. It’s likely that the project is just a collection of older songs meant to capitalize on his current hype. The young rapper has made no mention of the mixtape on his social media accounts.
Despite being behind bars and facing 20 years, Gucci isn’t having too bad a year. Rosario told Noisey the “So Icey” rapper pulled in about $1.3 million off his releases last year. “With Gucci, last year we did a total of 12 projects, including nine Gucci Mane projects and three 1017 projects,” continued Rosario.
In related news, the Bricksquad leader is reportedly looking to reach a plea deal with prosecutors in relation to the September incident when he threatened officers with a handgun. Radar Online uncovered court documents that suggest the case may not make it to trial, but the potential deal has been delayed by scheduling conflicts.
