Jam Out at Home and on Road Trips With October Music Releases
Just in time for basketball season and the holidays, several longtime stars and exciting new artists have released new music. So, which releases are worth downloading for your next away game road trip?
One of October’s biggest releases was Coldplay’s fifth record, “Xylo Myloto.” The album features the group’s trademark sweeping choruses and positive messages, making it ideal for those critical moments before a game when you’re trying to focus. Fans of the band’s new sound, developed in 2008’s “Viva La Vida,” won’t be disappointed.
Never one to be outdone, megastar Beyoncé is doing more than starting a family with husband Jay-Z. Her October music release, the single “Countdown,” dropped the same day that her former Destiny’s Child bandmate Kelly Rowland issued the single, “Down for Whatever.” Both songs are very danceable—great for a night out with the team.
For a single you can blast on repeat, check out the Black Keys’ “Lonely Boy,” from their upcoming “El Camino” album.
Looking for something a little under the radar? British artist Florence and The Machine, whose 2009 debut release “Lungs” held the #2 spot on UK charts for its first five weeks, has released a follow-up, “Ceremonials.” Also, popular indie band She and Him kicked off the holiday season with “A Very She and Him Christmas,” as M. Ward (the Him) and Zooey Deschanel (the She) continue their exploration of acoustic-tinged melodies.
