James Franco Will Star in Kennedy Assassination Miniseries
James Franco will star in a nine-hour sci-fi thriller miniseries centering on the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. The series will air on Hulu.
The drama is based on Stephen King’s novel 11/22/63, about a high school English teacher named Jake Epping, who travels back in time in an attempt to prevent the Kennedy’s assassination.
The project is being produced by J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot. Warner Bros. Television will distribute the series globally. King, who will serve as one of the executive producers, says he actually got the idea for the book before he wrote his breakout novel Carrie.
Writing the script and executive producing is Bridget Carpenter, best known for TV dramas Friday Night Lights and Parenthood.
Franco has appeared in several television series over the years, including General Hospital and The Mindy Project; but this miniseries will be his first starring TV role since he played Daniel Desario in Judd Apatow’s coming-of-age show, Freaks and Geeks, fifteen years ago.
There is no air date yet for 11/22/63.
