Jarrett Allen’s Monster Block on LeBron Reveals an Absurd Stat About King James
When the human freight train that is LeBron James powers down the lane and elevates for an emphatic finish, few are willing to challenge him.
But on Tuesday night, Brooklyn Nets center Jarrett Allen did. What happened next was extremely rare:

Per ESPN Stats & Information, James has attempted 1,850 dunks in his NBA career to date. Just nine of those attempts were blocked. That’s fewer than one in every 200 attempts.
The 6-foot-11 Allen is averaging 1.5 blocks per game.
“If you go up and you block it, you’re going to be on the highlight,” Allen told ESPN. “You get dunked on, you’re going to be on the highlight. So just go up and protect the rim.”
LeBron sounded a bit salty about the play after the game. “He’s in his 20s; I’m in my 30s,” James told reporters. “It takes me a little longer to get warmed up. But that’s fine. I mean, you’re a shot-blocker. You should, you can, get a block. It happens. It’s probably all over social media, so that’s cool.”
Don’t worry LeBron—maybe you just need a good night’s sleep.
