Jay-Z to Auction Off Brooklyn Nets Jerseys for Charity
Jay-Z will auction off limited edition Brooklyn Nets adidas jerseys to commemorate the opening of the new Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.
(See what position the Jigga Man plays on STACK’s All Hip-Hop NFL Team.)
The soon-to-be auctioned-off jerseys are the same ones Jay-Z wore during his eight sold-out concerts at the arena earlier this month. Only 800 jerseys are available—100 for each concert—in one of two colorways: black away jerseys, and classic white home jerseys. The jerseys will have the word “Carter”—the rapper’s last name—sewn on the back.
Of the 800 jerseys, ten are personally autographed by the New York MC on the size tag, along with an inscription that reads “Peace.” The NBA will host the auction and donate all proceeds to the Shawn Carter Foundation. Interested in purchasing one? Bid on it here. The auction ends on Oct. 31.
The jerseys aren’t the first item available for purchase following Jay-Z’s christening of the Barclays Center. (If you haven’t seen it yet, take a look inside the Brooklyn Nets’ New High-Tech Arena.) The rapper, who, despite being a minority owner, has been heavily involved in the development of the Brooklyn Nets, released Live In Brooklyn, a digital EP featuring eight songs and eight video clips from his Oct. 6 concert at the venue. “Empire State of Mind,” “Crazy In Love,” “On to the Next One,” and “Public Service Announcement” are all featured on the project.
