J.J. Watt is a superhero. In the weight room, he can pull off feats that would make the Hulk envious, and on the field, he’s a bonafide one-man wrecking crew. But even the amazing J.J. Watt isn’t immune to failure.
A recent tweet by Watt shows him going for a 61-inch Box Jump—an incredible height, especially for a guy who stands 6-foot-5 and weighs 290 pounds. In a series of photos, we see Watt nearly make the massive leap, only to fall backwards right onto his (minuscule by comparison) spotter.
You’ll never know what you’re truly capable of unless you push yourself to the limits. 5’1″ fail. #SpotterStruggles pic.twitter.com/1eM712WBMI

Luckily, Watt seems to be OK. Apparently he’s a pretty tough dude. No word on the spotter though!
In a time when most athletes are posting photos of their jaw-dropping fitness successes, it’s nice to see Watt acknowledging—and publicizing—a rare failure. In the tweet, Watt writes, “You’ll never know what you’re truly capable of unless you push yourself to the limits.”
Though Watt didn’t land this 61-inch jump, he has nailed a 59.5-inch leap before.
