TRAILER: Keanu Reeves is Out for Revenge in ‘John Wick’
Check out the latest trailer for John Wick, below.
Keanu Reeves stars as the title character, a former assassin who is brought back into the game after thugs steal his 1969 Ford Mustang and kill his dog. And based on the clip, he seems way more upset about losing his dog than the car. Hunting the offenders down, he finds they are linked to a Russian crime boss (Michael Nyqvist) for whom he used to work, and sets out to get revenge. It admittedly sounds a little wonky, but no one pulls off wonky like Keanu, right?
During a recent interview with IGN, Reeves described the overall theme of the film, saying “To me, the film is also about grief. John goes to this place to reclaim the moment of his grief, to go back. This kid has robbed him of the gift from his dead wife, something that gave him a semblance of hope, an opportunity to move on, to grieve. So, John reclaims his life back, but in a very Old Testament way.”
Friday Night Lights actress Adrianne Palicki also stars in the film. She’ll play opposite Reeves, and her character, unlike Wick, doesn’t want to leave the violent lifestyle behind. “We came up with a very fun backstory for the two of them,” Palicki said. “They were probably together at one point and lived this very similar lifestyle. But this is her life. She loves doing this and will do pretty much anything she has to to get the job done.”
John Wick, which is helmed by first-time directors Chad Stahelski and David Leitch, will hit theaters on Oct. 24.
