LeBron James Reveals What Motivates Him
LeBron James is one of the greatest basketball players ever. He has three rings, 12 All-Star appearances, four NBA MVPs and the list goes on. But after keeping his promise to end the 52-year championship drought in Cleveland by winning the 2016 NBA Championship, what’s left to motivate King James?
Sports Illustrated published a cover story on what James has been doing since the season ended, in which James reveals his motivation. “My motivation is this ghost I’m chasing. The ghost played in Chicago,” James said.

LeBron is trying to catch Michael Jordan and take his mantle as “the best player of all time.” Throughout LeBron’s career, he has been compared to Jordan. Later in the article, LeBron discusses the differences in their careers.
“My career is totally different than Michael Jordan’s,” James said. “What I’ve gone through is totally different than what he went through. What he did was unbelievable, and I watched it unfold. I looked up to him so much. I think it’s cool to put myself in position to be one of those great players, but if I can ever put myself in position to be the greatest player, that would be something extraordinary.”
Jordan has three more rings than the 31-year-old James. But the 6-foot-8, 250-pound athletic freak has been to the Finals six straight seasons, and we don’t think anyone will get in his way any time soon.
