ESPN The Magazine and Marvel Comics have teamed up to create a LeBron James comic book. The project—entitled LeBron: King of the Rings—narrates the story of King James’s hunt for the eight championships he promised to deliver to Miami Heat fans.

As the comic book begins, LeBron—with teammates Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade by his side—states his intention to bring “not one, not two, not three, not four, not five, not six, not seven” NBA championships to Heat fans. It then proceeds to project the team’s second championship, achieved once again by defeating the Oklahoma City Thunder in the 2013 NBA Finals.

However, LeBron soon realizes that his promise will be far more difficult to keep than he had originally thought. Standing in the way of future championships: zombies, clones, robots and holograms.

As if those obstacles were not enough, the league and the Cleveland Cavaliers collude to end the King’s reign. Cleveland brings in Bosh, Wade, Kobe, Durant, and 67-year-old Dennis Rodman with the express goal of bringing down LeBron. Of course, their efforts are in vain, as James wins again, leaving Cavs owner Dan Gilbert in tears.

The story continues until finally, in Game 7 of the 2030 NBA Finals, a 45-year-old LeBron James attempts to seal the deal on his eighth title. In the last game of his career, he again faces the question he had to confront countless times through the years: should he shoot or should he pass?
