Liam Neeson Stars in ‘The Commuter’
Liam Neeson will star in the big screen action thriller The Commuter from StudioCanal. He plays an insurance salesman who, on his daily commute home, suddenly finds himself entangled in a criminal conspiracy. Not only is his life at risk, but those around him are in danger as well.
The cast also features Vera Farmiga (The Conjuring), Sam Neill (The Vow), Elizabeth McGovern (Woman in Gold), Jonathan Banks (TV’s Better Call Saul), and rising star Kobna Holdbrook-Smith, soon to be seen in highly anticipated Doctor Strange.
The film is being directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, who previously directed Neeson in the action pics Run All Night and Non-Stop. Collet-Serra’s latest thriller is The Shallows, currently in theaters.
The screenplay was written by Byron Willinger and Philip de Blasi, who collaborated on the upcoming Dwayne Johnson actioner Skyscraper and the Screen Gems drama The Crossing.
According to Variety, “The pic marks one of a handful of movies the Picture Company has set up since [Andrew] Rona and [Alex] Heineman announced the creation of the banner last year with Escape From New York and a Robin Hood retelling also in the works.”
Neeson has three new movies premiering before the year is out. He will play the legendary General Douglas MacArthur in Operation Chromite, out August 12; and he will co-star with Felicity Jones in the fantasy drama A Monster Calls, October 21. Just in time for Christmas, Neeson will play a Jesuit priest in the historical drama Silence, in theaters December 22.
Now in pre-production, The Commuter will begin filming in New York this spring and is expected to hit theaters on October 13, 2017.
