Lil Wayne recently amended his lawsuit against his label and former mentor Birdman to include what now seems inevitable: funny business practices at Cash Money Records is about to cost the label two of its biggest stars, Drake and Nicki Minaj. The new documents back up Weezy’s previous claims that Birdman routinely failed to pay artists money owed to them, properly document accounting practices and disburse profits.

Neither Drake nor Nicki have picked sides in the ongoing legal battle; however, rumors suggest that Drizzy fulfilled his contractual obligation to the label with If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late, and will move forward with his Toronto-based imprint OVO Sound, which is distributed by Warner. Bros. Back in February, after Birdman was prevented from entering a pre-Grammy party that Nicki was hosting, the rapper distanced herself from the drama and expressed a desire to remain neutral. Meanwhile, Birdman has been silent on the issue since it all unfolded.

Despite the pending lawsuit, Wayne continues to make business moves. The Young Money boss recently signed a deal with Jay-Z’s music streaming upstart, Tidal, and released a new song to celebrate the deal. He is also slated to release his mixtape, The Free Weezy Album, via Tidal. The project will serve as a follow-up to his last mixtape, Sorry for the Wait 2. Let’s hope it delivers the same quality as “Glory.”

“I honestly gotta say that this #FWA album is my best work yet,” promised the New Orleans native back in April. “I won’t let [you] down as a fan.”
