The Fault in Our Stars screenwriters Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber are teaming up again for a big screen adaptation of another John Green novel, Looking for Alaska.

This story also centers on a young couple. The protagonist is a teen named Miles, who is spending his junior year in boarding school when he falls for an enigmatic student named Alaska. The girl offers the kind of excitement Miles desires. She is sexy, beautiful and funny, and despite her reckless, self-destructive tendencies, Miles is completely enamored with her.

Neustadter and Weber, whose big break came with 500 Days of Summer, recently co-wrote the adaptation of Green’s coming of age novel, Paper Towns, out June 5. Since the huge success of Fault—it earned $305.2 million worldwide—the duo has become one of the hottest writing teams in Hollywood. Besides the three Green projects, they also co-wrote the highly anticipated film version of Jojo Moyes’ novel Me Before You, and they’ve signed on to write the screenplay for an adaptation of the popular novel Where’d You Go Bernadette? by Maria Semple.

Temple Hill producers Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen, who worked on both Fault and Paper Towns, are on board for this film as well. They will produce alongside Weber and Neustadter.

An award-winning bestseller, Looking for Alaska was actually Green’s debut novel. The rights were purchased by Paramount 10 years ago, but the project wasn’t greenlighted until after Fault became a hit.

There have been reports that Sarah Polley, who directed Seth Rogen in Take this Waltz, may have been tapped to helm this picture.
