LSU CB Donte ‘Cheetah’ Jackson Says He ‘Most Definitely’ Has a Shot To Break The 40-Yard Dash Record at The Combine
Chris Johnson’s 40-Yard Dash record stood for nine long years.
Then, John Ross came along. At the 2017 NFL Combine, Ross, now a receiver with the Cincinnati Bengals, blazed his way to a 4.22 40-Yard Dash. That edged out Johnson’s former record of 4.24 and inked Ross’s name in the record books.
But if Donte Jackson has his way, Ross’s record will only stand for a couple more weeks.
Jackson, a cornerback out of LSU, goes by the nickname “Cheetah.” A former track star, Jackson clocked a wind-legal personal best of 10.22 in the 100-Meter Dash at the 2017 SEC Relays. He was also a member of LSU’s SEC Champion 4×100-meter relay team.

“That was huge. I was watching it,” Jackson recently told NFL.com of Ross’s record-breaking dash at last year’s Combine. “A lot of guys on my team, we were all watching it like, ‘You’re going to beat that. You’re going to beat that.’ It was cool to see. It was cool to see somebody actually went out there and broke it.”
Jackson has also said he believes he can “most definitely” beat Ross’s record at this year’s Combine. He’s training at the right place—Michael Johnson Performance Center in McKinney, Texas. Johnson, the four-time Olympic gold medalist sprinter, should help Jackson refine his technique for maximum velocity. For what it’s worth, we’re betting Jackson will also impress in the Vertical Jump event:

Jackson will get his shot at Ross’s record when he runs the 40-Yard Dash at the Combine on March 5th.
