Mark Wahlberg’s Using LeBron’s Favorite Workout To Get Down to 6% Body Fat for an Upcoming Role
Mark Wahlberg is no stranger to fitness.
He’s one of Hollywood’s biggest action stars, and he’s got the physique to match. But Wahlberg has decided to take his training to another level for his upcoming film Mile 22, which will see him star as a CIA field officer.
“I’ve been fat in all of Peter’s movies,” Wahlberg told Men’s Health, referring to Mile 22 director Peter Berg, who he worked with on Lone Survivor, Patriots Day and Deepwater Horizon. “For this one I’m going to be down to 6 percent body fat.”
How the heck does a 46-year-old father of four intend to get so shredded? He steals workouts from arguably the world’s greatest athlete—LeBron James. LeBron has long been a fan of the VersaClimber, a low-impact machine that mimics a climbing motion and torches calories at an incredible rate. He once told ESPN that if he could only have access to one piece of training equipment for the rest of his life, it’d be the VersaClimber.
Wahlberg recently had one of the machines installed in his home gym, and it’s been a crucial part of his preparation for Mile 22.
“I’m doing (the VersaClimber) twice a day and jumping rope,” Wahlberg said. “If I wake up (to workout) at 3:30, I can go to the golf course at 6:30, be done by 8:30, and then be home and then do the rest of my stuff: work with a physiotherapist, get treatment, hit the cryo chamber.”
Here’s a recent video of Wahlberg getting after it in his insane home gym with trainer Brian Nguyen:
