Martin Scorsese, Mick Jagger Team Up for HBO Series
HBO has picked up a provocative 1970s era rock ‘n’ roll drama series, which will be executive produced by Martin Scorsese and Mick Jagger. Scorsese will direct the pilot episode. Writing and producing this edgy, music industry series is Terence Winter of Scorsese’s Boardwalk Empire.
The stories will be told from the unique, insider perspective of founder and president of American Century Records, Richie Finestra, who is searching for a fresh new sound and trying to rebuild his career amid the emergence of punk and disco. Although Richie has a gift for discovering new talent, he has seen better times, and he struggles to resurrect his record label as he deals with a crisis of character brought on by a life-changing decision.
Starring as Richie is actor Bobby Cannavale, known for the series Boardwalk Empire and Nurse Jackie. Playing Richie’s wife is Olivia Wilde. The interesting and eclectic cast also features Ray Romano as one pf Richie’s partners, along with Juno Temple (Maleficent), Jack Quaid (The Hunger Games franchise), Bo Dietl (The Wolf of Wall Street), Andrew “Dice” Clay and Mick Jagger’s son James Jagger, whose work includes an appearance in the Ian Dury biopic Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll.
The yet-to-be-titled project is expected to air in 2015.
