Cover Athlete Revealed for “MLB 2K13” and This Week’s Gaming News
MLB 2K13 Due March 5; Cover Athlete Revealed
2K Sports announced plans to release MLB 2K13 on March 5 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
There was concern that there might be no new game this year, since parent company Take-Two Interactive’s deal with Major League Basketball reportedly concluded at the end of last year. However, the announcement also revealed a new agreement between the two parties.
Tampa Bay Rays pitcher David Price will be the MLB 2K13 cover athlete. He had a stellar season and was the 2012 American League Cy Young Award winner.
The Perfect Game Challenge will also return, but the contest format will be altered. New details have yet to been announced, but the $1 million bounty remains.
Web-based PS Store Launching This Month
Later this month, Sony plans to launch a PlayStation Store accessible from a desktop web browser. The goal of the site is to allow gamers to purchase a game and then have it automatically delivered to their PlayStation3 or Vita. Sony is a little late to the party; Microsoft has been offering this option since late 2008. But hopefully there won’t be many wrinkles in the development since the platform was launched in Europe back in December.
Pokémon X and Y Coming to 3DS This October
Nintendo recently announced plans to release Pokémon X and Y for the 3DS in October 2013. The games will be available simultaneously in Japan, America and Europe, a first for the series. Gamers will finally receive a true 3D adventure, including a few old faces, vivid redesigned environments and three new starter Pokémons named Chespin, Fennekin and Froakie. The game scenario, music and communication features have also been updated.
