MLB Player Uses ‘Baby Shark’ as Walk-Up Song, Goes 3-4 With a HR
You’ve heard it approximately a million times. You either absolutely love it, or totally despise it. But it’s going to be stuck in your head one way or another.
I’m talking, of course, about the hit children’s song Baby Shark. The children’s song has become a viral sensation over the last year or so, racking up billions upon billions of listens around the globe. And if you find yourself in the Texas Rangers’ Globe Life Park in Arlington this season, there’s a good chance you’ll hear it again. That’s because Elvis Andrus, the team’s starting shortstop, is now using it as his walk-up song. He debuted it in spring training:

Then used it during the Rangers’ home opener:

Andrus went 3-4 with a home run and 2 RBIs during the game, so don’t expect the song to go away anytime soon. He decided to go with Baby Shark because it’s his son’s favorite song.
“It reminds me of my son and gets me where I want to be for an at-bat,” Andrus told SportsDay Dallas earlier this week.
Can you imagine being a pitcher in a pressure-loaded situation with a hostile crowd going wild and then you hear “Baby Shark doo doo doo doo doo doo” boom through the stadium? That could get in your head quick. Andrus says as long as he’s performing well, the song isn’t going anywhere.
“If you don’t like it, you better get used to it. It’s not going away,” Andrus told ESPN. “Hopefully ‘Baby Shark’ can hit well…At least get me one hit a day. It’s going to stay.”
