LeBron James Picks Kanye, Big KRIT and Drake for ‘NBA 2K14’ Soundtrack
LeBron James is making his presence felt on NBA 2K14. Not only will the reigning NBA MVP appear on the game’s cover, he is also serving as music curator for the upcoming title from 2K Sports.
This marks the first time a cover athlete has been in charge of the game’s soundtrack. “2K is letting me take control of some important elements in NBA 2K14, including this year’s soundtrack,” James said in a statement. “I love that I’m the first NBA 2K cover athlete to choose the soundtrack.” Last year, James’s friend and rapper, Jay Z, was in charge of the music.
For the soundtrack, James has chosen a collection of hits from some of hip-hop’s heavy hitters and a few rock standouts. Included in the track list are Drake’s “Started From the Bottom,” Eminem’s “Not Afraid,” Kanye West’s “All of the Lights,” Daft Punk’s Pharrell Williams-assisted track “Get Lucky,” Robin Thicke’s infectious hit “Blurred Lines” and cuts from Kendrick Lamar, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Nas, Big K.R.I.T., the Black Keys, Coldplay, Fly Union, Cris Cab, Jadakiss, Gorillaz, Imagine Dragons, and, of course, Phil Collins.
NBA 2K14 will be released Oct. 1 for Xbox 360 and PS3. It should also arrive later in the year for next-generation consoles.
