Nike to Produce Camo Uniforms For Military Appreciation Day Games
In honor of Military Appreciation Day on Nov. 9, Nike has created special camouflage uniforms for the eight participating basketball teams.
Michigan State, which played against North Carolina at the 2011 Carrier Classic in San Diego, will go up against Connecticut this year at Ramstein Air Base in Germany; Syracuse and San Diego State will play in San Diego; Florida will contend with Georgetown in Jacksonville, Florida; and the 2012 Carrier Classic will feature Ohio State versus Marquette on the USS Yorktown in Charleston, South Carolina. That last game will be televised on the NBC Sports Network and will be followed up by a women’s game between Notre Dame and Ohio State.
Michigan State’s Draymond Green capped off last year’s event by giving his jersey to a soldier in the crowd aboard the USS Carl Vinson, and the rest of his team followed suit. All players from each team are expected to repeat the gesture this year.

Basketball teams aren’t the only ones showing their appreciation to our military. Georgia State University’s football team debuted dark-blue digital camouflage jerseys made by Nike during their Military Appreciation Day game against Wofford College on Oct. 13.
Nike has not yet unveiled the special jerseys for the Nov. 9 games. But it is expected they will again stem from the brand’s HyperElite line, consisting mostly of polyester from recycled plastic bottles and featuring the Army Combat Uniform (ACU) pattern.
