Lots of perks come with being the first team from the Mid-America Conference to earn a BCS bowl bid, and one of them is a serious uniform upgrade.
When the NIU Huskies face off against the Florida State Seminoles in the Orange Bowl, they’ll be wearing adidas TECHFIT uniforms. For the biggest game in their school’s history, NIU players will sport jerseys that are 30% lighter, with new, silver numbers across their chests and on their shoulders. The Huskies will also wear TECHIFT pants, red and white Team Speed Vertical Crew Socks, and black adizero 5-Star and crazyquick cleats.
The Orange Bowl matches the MAC champs against the ACC champion Seminoles. The Huskies don’t seem intimidated by going up against the more established Florida State program, and NIU quarterback Jordan Lynch isn’t afraid to say so. In a recent interview with The Sporting News, Lynch said this about the Florida State defense and his expectations for the Orange Bowl: “They’re fast, they’re physical, but they haven’t seen anything like our offense. We plan on wearing them down. In the fourth quarter, we plan to have them on their knees—and then just keep pounding away.”
Seminole players may not need the extra bulletin board material, but nonetheless, there it is!
So what do you think of NIU’s uniforms for the Orange Bowl? Will they help the Huskies pull off an inspired upset? Let us know on Facebook or Twitter.
