Odell Beckham Jr. Wants to Speed Train With Usain Bolt This Off-Season
In the third quarter of the New York Giants’ somewhat surprising win over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night, Odell Beckham Jr. lined up to the left of the formation, ran a crossing route, caught the ball over the middle and was gone. He sped toward the end zone with Cowboys cornerback Brandon Carr on his heels, close but never close enough to bring him down. According to the NFL’s Next Gen Stats, OBJ hit a top speed of 21.85 mph.

Beckham’s scamper was the top speed for any ball carrier in Week 14, but the Giants wideout is setting even loftier goals for the off-season. Taking to Twitter, Beckham Jr. tagged nine-time Olympic gold medal sprinter Usain Bolt to ask if they could speed train together.
@usainbolt let’s speed train this offseason ?! https://t.co/vNqAoWvZuM

Bolt had to chuckle a little at Beckham’s brashness. Sure, 21.85 mph is nothing to scoff at. But Bolt’s fastest speed clocked in at a ridiculous 27.8 mph, a number he hit while running the 100-meter finals at the World Championships in 2009.

Still, Beckham’s no slouch when it comes to speed, and if he was serious about that tweet, having him work on his quickness with the greatest sprinter the world has ever seen would make for some incredible footage.
