Gaming Update: PS4, ‘Persona 5,’ ‘Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel’
PS4 Adding Theme Support
The PS4’s 2.0 update will add theme support. Sony announced the news at their pre-TGS PlayStation press conference last week in Japan. Say goodbye to that blue background! Personalized themes, which were available on the PS3, allow a user to select his or her background image and impact the appearance of some icons.
The forthcoming firmware update, slated to arrive this fall, adds the ability for users to load gameplay videos directly to YouTube, and introduces SharePlay, which allows you to invite friends to join a game you are playing even if they don’t own a copy of the title.
Persona 5 Coming to PS4 and PS3
Sony has confirmed that Persona 5 will come to both the PS3 and PS4. Check out the latest trailer for the game below!
A release date hasn’t been announced yet and little has been revealed about the plot, but it will follow its predecessors with a story built around young people who enter a supernatural world.
According to director Katsura Hashino, the game will focus on “themes of restraint and liberation in modern society.” He said, “I feel that in today’s world, there’s no shortage of people that are bored and discontent with their lives. They’re at a dead end, chained down to a world of which they resent being a part. Persona 5, in that sense, is a game about freedom. The kind that those sorts of people haven’t had living in the real world.”

2K and Gearbox Software announced plans to release four downloadable packs for the forthcoming Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. Gamers can order the Season Pass, which nets them all of the DLCs, for $29.99. Or they can purchase each DLC separately for $9.99 a pop. The Shock Drop Slaughter Pit bonus, which is gifted to players who pre-order the game, is not included in the Season Pass. It will probably be available post-launch, but you’ll have to purchase it separately.
Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel will be released Oct. 14 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Linux, Mac and PC. And it was recently announced that gamers will be able to play the title as protagonist Handsome Jack.
