One of the most nerve-racking positions in football has to be punt returner. What is scarier than moving alone to catch a ball a mile in the air while almost a dozen big strong people are running at full speed determined to take you down?

But that won’t be happening to the Indianapolis Colts’ returners, because they have found a way to simulate the distractions that occur during punts. After taking the week off with a bye, the team was back at practice Monday and using a remote-control tackling dummy to attack returners while they try to catch the ball.

This is a great drill to calm the nerves of returners and help them make successful catches under pressure.

The Colts aren’t the only team using this dummy; other teams like the Pittsburgh Steelers have used this technology for tackling and pursuit drills.

Though the dummy is a soft pad, it can reportedly get up to speed around a 4.8-second 40-Yard Dash.
