In the action comedy Ride Along, security guard Ben (Kevin Hart) tries to convince his girlfriend’s policeman brother James (Ice Cube) that he is good enough to marry her. To prove his worth, Ben accompanies the combative Atlanta cop on what turns out to be an intense 24-hour patrol, during which the two chase the city’s most infamous criminal.

Playing Ben’s girlfriend Angela is Think Like a Man’s Tika Sumpter. The cast also features John Leguizamo, Bryan Callen (The Hangover I & II) and veteran film and TV actor Bruce McGill.

Ride Along is directed by Tim Story, best known for his work on Fantastic Four and Think Like a Man. In addition to starring in the film, Ice Cube is one of the producers. The screenplay was written by a team that includes Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi, both of whom worked on the screenplay for 2010’s Clash of the Titans.

Ride Along opens on Jan. 17. Expectations for the film are so high that a sequel has already been announced.
