Robert Griffin III Will Likely Be the Cleveland Browns’ 25th Starting QB Since 1999
ESPN’s Adam Schefter tweeted the news that the Cleveland Browns signed former Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III to a two-year deal. The official terms of the deal have not yet been disclosed.
And now the Browns say they have signed QB Robert Griffin III. It’s going to be a 2-year deal.

The move is the latest by the Browns after waiving Johnny Manziel earlier this month. The signing of RG3 will give the former Rookie of the Year a shot at becoming the Browns’ 25th starting quarterback since the franchise came back to Cleveland in 1999. The long parade of quarterbacks, and the fact that the Browns are perennial AFC North basement dwellers, pose two difficult obstacles for RG3, but the organization is in desperate need of a productive quarterback who can lead and revitalize the team.
RG3 spent four seasons with the Washington Redskins. He was demoted to scout team last season after losing his starting spot to Kirk Cousins, who recently signed a one-year deal for nearly $20 million with a franchise tag. RG3 has suffered recurring injuries since 2013 and has not played a full season during that time.
