The story of former baseball star Roger Clemens is being adapted for a big screen biopic called The Rocket.

Imitation Game producer Teddy Schwarzman is producing the film about the legendary pitcher via his Black Bear Pictures banner, after winning the rights to the project in a heated auction.

Focusing on the later half of Clemens’ amazing 24-season career, the film will chronicle the pitcher’s relationship with former trainer Brian McNamee, who accused Clemens of using steroids. Clemens denied the accusations while testifying before Congress and was indicted on six felony counts involving perjury. Although he was eventually found not guilty on all counts in 2008, a year after retiring from baseball, the former Red Sox pitcher has remained a tarnished figure and has not yet been elected to the Hall of Fame.

The screenplay was written by Jeffrey Gelber and Ryan Belenzon, both of whom are making their feature film screenwriting debut. The duo is best known for producing Robin Williams’ big screen drama Boulevard.
