The NFL’s product on the field hasn’t exactly been a sparkling success so far in this season, but in terms of footwear, it might be the single greatest season ever. Every weekend, players are showing out with elaborate custom cleats, from tributes to their family to bringing Kanye West’s Yeezy Boosts onto the gridiron. Here are some of the best ones we’ve seen so far in 2016.

One of the best things to ever happen to adidas was luring Kanye West away from Nike and bringing him into the fold at Three Stripes. Adidas then capitalized on the popularity of Kanye’s Yeezy Boost line, turning the highly sought after kicks into cleats for some of their most prominent NFL athletes like DeAndre Hopkins and Von Miller to rock on the field during the NFL’s opening weekend. The result was pretty awesome.

When one of the most iconic musicians in history passed away last April, an outpouring of support around his mansion in Minnesota paid tribute to one of the best. Homages to Prince even trickled down to the football field, where Cam Newton rocked purple and paisley Under Armour cleats when the Carolina Panthers took on the Minnesota Vikings in Minnesota. Purple Rain forever.

Odell Beckham Jr. has gone wild with custom cleats this season, but his best were also his most nerdy. Cleats that featured images of Kirby, the adorably pink Nintendo character, were not only unexpected but artfully done.
