Gaming Update: ‘SimCity,’ ‘The Evil Within,’ ‘Dishonored’
This week in gaming, SimCity got an update, Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami announced The Evil Within and the new Dishonored DLC unveiled a few new tools.
SimCity Update Improves Your City
SimCity got its first update, addressing a slew of bugs and gameplay fixes. The company has posted an exhaustive list of the updates to its forum. Included will be more detail around the Mayor’s transport to work and a color-correct HUD for the colorblind setting. Also, going forward, casinos should turn more of a profit and traffic gridlocks caused by an influx of tourists or too many fire trucks reporting to fires should be alleviated. Unfortunately, gamers are already reporting new bugs after the patch. Stay tuned for more updates.
Mac gamers still looking to play will get their chance on June 11. EA seems to understand they have a long way to go before users will be satisfied, but this first patch is at least a (small) step in the right direction.
Bethesda Links With Resident Evil Creator for The Evil Within
Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami and his studio, Tango Gameworks, has unveiled a new project with Bethesda. The Evil Within marks the game designer’s return to the survival horror genre, and he promises to remain true to the culture.
Originally identified by codename “Project Zwei,” the game will reportedly revolve around a detective named Sebastian. At the scene of a mass murder, Sebastian is injured by a mysterious force, and he awakens to a world full of monsters, according to CinemaBlend. The developers plan to keep gamers on their toes by causing the surroundings to constantly evolve based on a player’s actions. Check out the short trailer below.

New DLC Released For Dishonored
New downloadable content was released for Dishonored last week. On April 16, “The Knife of Dunwall” came out for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC for $10. The DLC focused on the story of Daud, the assassin responsible for killing the Empress. He is “on a search for redemption,” having come to regret his actions. The trip will introduce you to previously unexplored parts of Dunwall and new enemies, which you can dispatch with the help of Daud’s arsenal of weapons, physical capabilities and allies.
If you haven’t scooped up Dishonored yet, now would be the time to do so, because the game is currently on sale on Amazon for 50% off. This isn’t the last expansion from Bethesda either; the video game publisher has announced plans to release another DLC called “The Brigmore Witches” to close out Daud’s story in the near future.
