Has the Sinister Six Lineup Been Revealed?
Sony may have offered fans their first glimpse at the Sinister Six, via Shazam.
Using the mobile app on Alicia Key’s song, “It’s On Again,” which plays during the end credit sequence of The Amazing Spider-Man 2, unlocks six photos that hint at members of the villainous team, which is slated for the big screen in the future. Based on the photographs, the group will consist of Green Goblin, Rhino, Vulture, Doctor Octopus, Kraven the Hunter and Mysterio.
In a press release about the movie, Sony stated, “After seeing The Amazing Spider-Man 2 opening on May 2, be sure to Shazam the end credit sequence…to unlock a look into the sinister future.”
But is it real? The Wrap is reporting that the group members have not been finalized, because director Drew Goddard has not finished the script. However, at least three of the members seem like shoo-ins.
It’s unlikely Sony would be willing to lose rising star Dane DeHaan, who portrays Green Goblin and his alter ego Harry Osborne. Doctor Octopus was hinted at toward the end of The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and he, like Green Goblin, is a recognizable villain for casual moviegoers. Rhino also appears in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and Paul Giamatti has hinted that this may not be the last time we see his character.
The Sinister Six movie does not have a release date, but it’s not expected until 2018. Yet, according to The Wrap, production for the film could start as early as January 2015, presumably ahead of schedule.
