Training Tool: SKLZ Recoil 360
The SKLZ Recoil 360 all-position resistance trainer is a great tool to help you get faster and develop power for your sport. It consists of a 46-inch adjustable belt, bungee cord and partner safety handle. The athlete performing the exercise wears the belt, and the bungee cord is tethered to a partner or stationary object.
Like other SKLZ products, the Recoil 360 is made with quality and durable material. It can be used indoors or outdoors, and it comes with its own storage bag, which fits into a workout duffle or equipment area for easily transportation and storage.
The drills most commonly performed with this system are resisted and assisted sprints for developing stride power and length. Other uses include resisted or assisted jumping, bounding and agility drills. (Watch AJ Hawk perform a resisted agility drill.) The Recoil 360 can also provide resistance when you perform sports skills, like a three-step drop or a baseball swing, to help you get stronger in these movements.
What sets this system apart from other resistance band products is that the bungee can attach to four clips on the belt, allowing you to get faster and more powerful in all directions—hence “360”—and to simulate the unpredictability of the playing field. If you think about it, unless you’re a sprinter, there are very few times during a game when you are running at top speed in a straight line.
An important thing to keep in mind when using the SKLZ Recoil 360 is safety. The resistance band is made of strong material; however, if you stretch it too far it can break. To avoid injury, stretch the cord no longer than 10 to 12 yards, especially if it’s fastened to a stationary object.
