Over the past week, several games and updates were announced. The dead will rise again in a planned crossover between the Resident Evil and Left 4 Dead franchises; Sniper Elite 3 won’t arrive until next year; and a new map pack will be released for Halo 4 next month.

Resident Evil 5 & Left 4 Dead 2 Crossover

Capcom and Valve have announced plans to release a crossover between their games. Even the dead mingle, right? In the PC-exclusive DLC, members from 2009’s Left 4 Dead 2 will appear in “The Mercenaries: No Mercy” mode on Resident Evil 6. Included are Coach, Ellis, Nick, Rochelle and classics like The Witch and the Mini Take. The Lepotitsa, Napad and Ogroman from Resident Evil 6 are expected among the characters who make an appearances on the L4D2 game.

The DLC will be released on April 5 for free. There are no plans to bring the content to consoles. (Resident Evil 6, the movie, get a release date.)

Sniper Elite 3 Announced

Sniper Elite 3 will be released in 2014. Unfortunately, the developer hasn’t nailed down the date. It will be available for Xbox 360, PS3 , PC and next generation platforms. Rebellion CEO Jason Kingsley commented on the release, saying they are working on expanding the game and building on its success. He said, “We want to focus on making this latest incarnation of Sniper Elite more of a sandbox game, but also build on the awesome X-Ray Kill Cam and the atmospheric World War II setting.”

Halo 4‘s New Map Pack Coming April 8

Halo 4‘s final map pack, “Castle,” will be released on April 8. It will be free to Map Pass holders and cost 800 MS points or $10 for others. Previous map releases, “Crimson” and “Majestic,” were released in December and February respectively. (Remember when Halo 4 was just a concept? We do. How time flies!)

“Castle” will give gamers access to new areas called Daybreak, Outcast and Perdition. According to Microsoft, the maps “emphasize vehicular warfare and large battles over open spaces, where team strategy is key to successfully conquering the battlefield.” It will also include a new six-versus-six playlist and nine Achievements.

In other news, Microsoft recently confirmed that they will not be releasing a PC version of the Halo franchise. “We currently do not have plans to release any Halo titles on Stream, nor do we currently have plans for a PC version of Halo 3,” a rep told Eurogamer.
