Someone is Auctioning Off Steph Curry’s Gross, Game-Used Mouthguard for $5,000
Almost as recognizable as his ability to hit 3-pointers from another galaxy is Stephen Curry’s mouthguard. He’s made it a “thing.” It’s always hanging out of his mouth and he’s constantly chewing on it, whether he’s at the free-throw line or meandering around the court between whistles. If the cameras zoom in close enough, you can see Steph’s saliva hanging off it. Pretty gross.

But grossness can’t stop SCP Customs, a California-based auction house, from auctioning off a game-used Curry mouthguard for a price they think will exceed $5,000. That’s right, for a cool five grand you can own a disgusting, saliva-coated mouthguard chewed by one of the game’s best players. You can then place it in a glass case on your mantel, where none of your friends will think it’s weird at all.
“Steph Curry has given more life to mouthguards than any player in history,” Dan Imler, vice president of the auction house, told ESPN. “The way he flips it in and out of his mouth has become part of watching him during a game.”
Curry may have made mouthguards iconic, but we’ll take a hard pass at spending a chunk of our life savings to bring one of those germ-infested things into our home, thank you very much.
