The West was strongly represented in this past weekend’s final stop for both the Stack Sports and Elite 11 regional showcases at SoCal’s El Camino College. Amongst the top recruits in the Class of 2022 that made their mark — like QB AJ Duffy, QB Maalik Murphy, DL Gracen Halton, and LB Cyrus Moss — several underclassmen showed great skill and potential to keep your eye out for in years to come.

QB Malachi Nelson, Los Alamitos (Calif.) – 2023

In a powerful group of over 50 quarterbacks, Nelson still stood out as the most polished and consistent. At most showcase events, quarterbacks try to impress with arm strength but not Nelson, who completes his passes accurately and on time. He showed his skill as a pocket passer and the ability to throw rolling left/right and from several different arm angles. Nelson is on pace to be in the discussion for a top overall player in the class of 2023 with offers from Alabama, Ohio State, Oregon, Florida, Georgia, and just about every college in the country by the time he’s ready to commit.

QB Jaden Rashada, Pittsburg (Calif.) – 2023

There was a lot to like about the sophomore standout dual-threat prospect. With a tall 6’3″ projectable frame, Rashada has a smooth feel to his game and makes throws from different arm angles look easy. Many coaches were impressed with both the fluidity and accuracy in his throws when rolling to either side, putting a nice touch on some sideline throws. Rashada is approaching double-digit offers, with Arizona State, Auburn, California, and Utah among those already on his offer list.

OL Miles McVay, East St. Louis (Ill.) – 2023

McVay is a massive kid who stands at 6’7″ 372 pounds but moves exceptionally well for his size and shows excellent mobility. He’s a natural athlete and a well-known prospect in the Midwest with offers from Florida, Georgia, and Ole Miss.

OG Sean Na’a, Westlake (Calif.) – 2023

Stack’s number two OL score of the day with a solid build. He moves exceptionally well with offers from Arizona State and interest from Florida and Notre Dame for his size. 

WR Makai Lemon, Los Alamitos (Calif.) – 2023

Ranked as one of the top 10 recruits in the class of 2023, Lemon displayed his overall athleticism and ability to fit numerous positions with a 4.61 40-yard dash and the top score of the 2023 class in any position with an 84. His polished route running combined with skilled footwork and large catching radius has sparked offers from Colorado, Oregon State, ASU, USC, Arkansas, Penn State, FSU, and Tennessee.

WR David Washington, Arbor View (Nev.) – 2024

One player who immediately caught our attention through warm-ups was Washington, the freshman who has yet to play a down of varsity football as Nevada targets a March start date for the season. He made a handful of excellent receptions over the middle of the field and showed the agility to go deep as a reliable target down the field. The 6-foot, 185-pound Washington is one to watch in the years to come. 

DL Jaeden Moore, Central Valley Christian (Calif.) – 2023

For only a sophomore, Moore was one of the most athletic players in this group showing an explosive first step and multi-directional capabilities. 

CB Kai Remigio, Mater Dei (Calif) – 2023

Remigio tested well with a 37-inch vertical jump and a 4.51 20-yard dash. He’s a twitchy cornerback with right length who has the athleticism to use his vertical to challenge receivers and broke quickly on the football.

DB Nathaniel Frazier, Pius X-St. Matthias (Calif.) – 2024

Outstanding freshman standout, Frazier ran a 4.58 40-yard dash with an overall rating of 81.12. A young talent to keep your eyes out for in the upcoming years.
