Horror Film ‘The Entity’ Headed for a Remake
A trio of filmmakers from the surprise hit The Conjuring are reteaming for a remake of the 1983 horror feature The Entity. James Wan will produce the project, and screenwriter brothers Chad and Carey Hayes are set to write the script. Producing alongside Wan is horror film producer Roy Lee.
It is not yet clear whether Wan will also direct the film. Considering his busy schedule, don’t be surprised if he lets someone else take the directorial reins.
Based on Frank De Filetta’s novel of the same name, which was inspired by a true story, the original film, starring Barbara Hershey and Ron Silver, centered on single mom Carla Moran, who was allegedly abused physically and sexually by an invisible supernatural demon. A doctor in the film, played by Silver, formed the opinion that Carla was abusing herself and suffering from delusions provoked by her traumatic past.
Although Wan recently crossed genres to direct the megahit action thriller Furious Seven, he continues to be a major player in the world of horror films, having signed on to direct and produce The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist, which will begin filming this fall. However, rumor has it that he may soon branch out again to direct DC Entertainment’s Aquaman.
