The Houston Astros Spend 4-Hour Rain Delay Devouring Junk Food, Win Game Anyway
What is a baseball player to do when he’s faced with four continuous hours of rain delay and nothing to do but sit around and wait for it to end? It’s a question the Houston Astros had to answer Sunday afternoon in Baltimore as they waited the length of an entire game to take the field against the Orioles.

Once they retreated to the locker room and hunkered down to wait out the storm, the Astros did what any group of guys who play a game for a living would do: they ingested as much junk food as they possibly could, with All-Star shortstop Carlos Correa as their ring leader.
Correa on delay: “We ate so much junk food, we took so many naps. We ate burgers, pizza, candy, everything, waiting for the game.”

Burgers, pizza, candy, all consumed in the name of boredom. How the guys managed to get back out on the field and play an entire baseball game—and win it 5-3!—despite all that awfulness sloshing around in their bellies is beyond us, but I guess that’s why they’re called professional athletes. Not sure where Astros manager A.J. Hinch was for the Junk Food Fest, because there’s no way he’d approve. Maybe he was taking a nap.
