The Rob Dyrdek Collection
Fifteen years ago, a young man had a dream to create a shoe that would revolutionize the skateboarding world. He did just that in 1995 with the launch of the DC Dyrdek 1, and skateboarding has never been the same.
Now 15 shoes later, Rob Dyrdek is one of the most recognized names in skateboarding, and he has teamed up with his old pals at DC to reshape a version of his very first shoe, the RD 1, into his latest creation, the RD 0915AW (the name stands for his initials, the current year (2009), the number of shoes he’s designed (15), and his board sponsor, Alien Workshop). His latest creation will be placed at the pinnacle of his clothing and shoe collection, all of which is geared toward skateboarders.
The Shoe ($90): Bringing it back to the basics, the RD 0915AW has not only the DC features that riders have grown accustom to, but also the style and personality of the man who put his creativity into the shoe. Nylon lace loops, which Dyrdek incorporated into his very first shoe, create a more durable lacing system. (The simple innovation of nylon lace loops changed the way all skate shoes were made.) DC’s exclusive construction provides more comfort and a perforated upper panel for airflow. The RD 0915AW is the Rolls-Royce of the skate shoe world. Yet it also provides the key skate features that DC is known for, including their trademark pill pattern and wrap cup sole. It’s bound to fit the needs of every rider trying to go big.
The Tee ($28): This slim-fit, water pattern T-shirt with the large DC logo on the front is sure to make a statement in the skate park. Up close, the shirt is covered in brightly-colored dots that, when seen from a distance, look like a pool of water. The style represents the collection’s main theme, “Fantasies Run Deep,” which sums up Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory ideas.
The Hoody ($58): Featuring the pool pattern print, this zip-up hoody will surely catch the eye of any skater. Designed for comfort and durability, the hoody will last way beyond the longest skate session and goes perfectly with the Rob Dyrdek signature denim jeans.
The Jeans ($70): The jeans, made from 100 percent cotton, are among the most durable jeans on the market. They’re built to withstand the worst falls that a skater can take, and their straight-fit cut looks good throughout the long school day. A custom interior waistband print of the pool pattern and a DC logo add flavor to your typical pair of denim.
The Hat ($58): May seem a bit pricy for something that sits on your head, but once you take a look at it, you can definitely say there is no other cap like it. New Era teamed up with DC to create a one-of-a-kind DC cap, one that is sure to keep your head looking cool with the pool pattern print covering the exterior and the white DC logo in front.
